By car or motorcycle

The easiest route to Turkansaari from any direction is driving along Kainuuntie (Valtatie 22). When arriving from the Oulu city centre, follow Kainuuntie until you see Turkansaari signposts. At the Turkansaarentie junction, turn left and follow the signposts. When arriving from Muhos, turn right at the junction and follow the signposts.

By bicycle

Oulu’s bicycle network is extensive, and you can cycle from the city centre to Turkansaari mostly along pedestrian paths. One length of the route must be cycled along a motor road.

By public transport

Oulu Regional Transport’s lines 40 and 41 operate near Turkansaari. Line 41 stops near the Kainuuntie and Turkansaarentie junction on the stop Turkansaari th E. The distance between the Open Air Museum and the bus stop is approximately 1,5 km. Line 40 stops near Sanginsuu School on the stop Sanginsuun koulu E. The distance between the Open Air Museum and the school is approximately 3,2 km.

When walking from the bus stop to Turkansaari, please note that the final length of the path on Turkansaarentie and Sanginsaarentie are unpaved, and it is not possible to traverse them with roller skates, for example. Using an electric scooter is possible depending on the path’s condition.

By boat

Landing by boat is only permitted on the Turkansaari Island’s south-western dock during the Museum’s opening times. Landing on other shores on the island, and when the Museum is closed, is not permitted.
